Our Mission

A registered public charity (P74613 in South Carolina) whose goal is to support & promote the growth of high school rugby teams in the greater Charleston area.

We are a group of passionate individuals with a deep love for the game of rugby, the unique culture associated with the sport and the community it creates.

Whether it's introducing a player to rugby for the first time in high school or helping a player get to the required level to compete in select teams or at college, we stand ready to help.

  • What are we up to

Fundraising & Evangelization - We are trying to make it as easy as possible for new high school rugby teams to get started in the Charleston area. One of the biggest obstacles when starting new high school rugby teams (or growing existing ones) is raising enough money to help with startup costs such as buying jerseys, balls, pads, tournament entry fees etc. To ease that burden for new and developing teams, we want to help raise money, evangelize the new teams to build interest and make it easy for new teams to register players.

    -

Lucy Beckham High School - After many conversations and planning efforts, Lucy Beckham rugby club is up and running with training happening on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Kerr Tennis center.

    -

James Island Charter High School - James Island is starting back up as of 17 October 2023 with a boys and girls program. Very exciting to be helping them get back up and running.

    -

Stratford High School - Currently working Stratford in Goose Creek to get their new new team established. School district logistics being sorted out with the hope of them joining the 2024/2025 Winter league.

    -

Winter League - Engaged with a group of like minded stakeholders in Charleston, Greer and Columbia to introduce a Winter league as a means to rebuild rugby in SC. The goal is to play whatever format is needed on a match day to ensure a team of any size can participate (7's, 10's or 15's). This approach would make it easier for a school or club to have multiple teams (not as many players needed on one team), less travel for all teams and is a great stepping stone to playing regular 15-a-side in the Spring.
